WHY SUPPORT The National Breast Cancer Foundation?

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the only national body that funds life-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public. The NBCF’s mission is simple: stop deaths from breast cancer by identifying, funding and championing world-class research that will help to detect tumours earlier, improve treatment outcomes and ultimately save lives.

In developed countries like Australia, 20-30% of women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer will go on to develop metastatic breast cancer, where the cancer spreads to other organs. The survival rate is alarmingly low, with just 1 in 4 women still alive after 5 years. By NBCF utilising the funding for world-class research, the organisation is working towards a goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

The work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation would not be possible without the support and generosity of the Australian Public. Since the company started in 1994, NBCF has invested over $162 million in over 514 breast cancer research projects across the country with remarkable results, but the job is not finished yet.
